Gonorrhea Test

An FDA Approved Urine Test is all that is required to be tested for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia.

The Nucleic Acid Amplification (NAA) test, which is FDA Approved, is the testing industry’s “gold standard” for testing for gonorrhea and chlamydia. For gonorrhea it reveals whether the Neisseria gonorrhea bacterium is in the urine.

The NAA test is also the most accurate test available for detecting chlamydia as well , searching for the presence of the chlamydia trachomatis bacterium in the urine. These tests require just a urine sample, so there is no swabbing and you don’t need to undress. You will receive your results in 1 or 2 days.

What does gonorrhea testing consist of?

The gonorrhea test requires a urine sample. We use the CLIA Certified Nucleic Acid Amplification (NAA) test. This test gives the most accurate results of any gonorrhea test on the market. It detects the presence of the Neisseria gonorrhea bacterium in your system. There is no swabbing or undressing necessary.

Is there anything I need to do to get ready to be tested?

Just hold off from urinating for a least an hour before you provide your urine sample at the testing center. That’s all you need to do.

Is there an ideal time to be tested for gonorrhea?

There is no universal incubation time for gonorrhea; everyone’s body handles the infection differently. We recommend that you wait at least 2 – 6 days after possible exposure before going to the testing center. The more fully the bacterium is developed, the easier it is to detect. If your test result is positive, you will be treated. Once your course of treatment has been completed, we recommend that you be re-tested to confirm that the infection is cured.

When I get the results of my gonorrhea test, what will the results say?

If there are no signs of gonorrhea in your system, your result will be negative. If you get a positive result that means the Neisseria gonorrhea bacteria has been found by the test. To make sure your test results are accurate we recommend waiting at least 2 to 6 days after possible exposure.

Is gonorrhea curable?

Yes gonorrhea can be cured with a course of antibiotics. If your test results are positive you may request a free phone consultation with one of our doctors. They are there to answer all your questions and can prescribe the appropriate medication at their discretion.

Who should be tested for gonorrhea?

Anyone who is sexually active is at risk for getting gonorrhea. If this disease goes untreated it can cause serious and even permanent health issues. The symptoms of gonorrhea would be a burning feeling when urinating, a discharge, rashes or sores in the genital area. Anyone having these symptoms should be tested along with their partner.
